A Montessori school is a special environment for the child to cultivate his/her own natural desire to learn. Our country setting includes eight classrooms, gardens, a large playground, and a barnyard complete with animals.
The Montessori philosophy for child development was first formulated by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician, during the early 1900’s. The method is research based and time tested for preparing students for the next plane of development. Dr. Montessori’s program for education focuses on the natural development of the whole child from birth through maturity. Children 2 to 12 years of age are the focus of our Montessori educational program. The method allows children to experience the joy of learning at an early age and throughout his/her education.
Country Day Montessori School’s Elementary Building contains three large classrooms and the Elementary Library. The school is located on 4 1/2 acres in the North East part of San Antonio, just south of 1604, taking the Bulverde Rd. exit.
Country Day Montessori School’s Primary Building houses students 2 – 5 years old. Located next to a Canine Training venue as well as an Equestrian Boarding Stable, CDMS’s 4 1/2 acres provides a spacious environment for the developing preschool students.
Country Day Montessori’s Primary classrooms contain a full complement of Montessori materials to promote learning in all curriculum areas. Individual lessons are given to each student to facilitate individual rate of progress. Students may choose their work from lessons they’ve already received which encourages students to take ownership in their education, make good choices, and work from start to finish.
We pride ourselves in having a strong sense of community. We want our families to feel connected to the school and know how to stay engaged. Look for articles about our classrooms, school events, and volunteer opportunities.

“This school has been amazing for my children. Before coming to Country Day they were incredibly shy and had a hard time interacting with adults. I have been so impressed with everything my children have been doing at Country Day. They have learned and grown so much there. We will definitely be a part of the Country Day Montessori family for many years to come.” – Devra G.
