Saint Mary’s Hall Students Help Take a Stand Against Breast Cancer

Saint Mary's Hall National Storytelling Torchbearers SMH National Storytelling Torchbearers Ruthie R. (Class of 2015), Ben W. (Form 7), and Piper H. (Form 8), recently participated in the Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation’s 2015 gala, “Boot Up to Kick Breast Cancer.” Each year the gala focuses on people who have been affected by breast cancer. This year, children wrote about their mother’s battles with breast cancer. Our storytellers were invited to read some of those stories during the gala, and did so with professionalism and maturity. The Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation’s Vice President, Jerry Worden, sent a letter commending our students. He said, “They were well received by the audience. We were delighted and couldn’t have asked for more.”

Also during the event, SMH parent, Dr. Amy Lang, was honored by the Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation for her “care, compassion, and commitment to her patients.”

It was truly an honor to have our students participate in such a meaningful and important event. Photo courtesy of Genaro Reyes.
