St. Paul’s Episcopal Montessori School is committed to providing an educational experience that nurtures the unique gifts and character of each student. Whether students begin with us in toddler, primary or elementary they will have opportunities to explore the world and to experience and develop compassion, empathy and creativity as they build a foundation for a life-long love of learning. Our faculty and staff seek to guide the children along the path of discovery to achieve these goals and we ask you to join us in this journey.

We are accredited by the Southwest Association of Episcopal Schools.  We are members of the Texas Private Schools Association and are also a member of the American Montessori Society.

We build independence: Each child is valued as a unique individual. Montessori education recognizes that children learn in different ways, and accommodates all learning styles. Students are also free to learn at their own pace, each advancing through the curriculum as he or she is ready, guided by the teacher and an individualized learning plan.

We invite exploration: It is not our job to teach students what to think, but rather to help them learn how to think. We emphasize the joy of discovering big ideas and then challenging them. We encourage children to think critically, to question and to think about interdependence and process.

We promote self-motivation: Dr. Montessori recognized that self-motivation is the only valid impulse for learning. Children move themselves toward learning. The teacher prepares the environment, offers activities, functions as guide. She observes the child constantly in order to help the process of “learning how to learn.” But it is the child who learns, motivated through the work itself, to persist in a chosen task.

We inspire creativity : In art, music language and the sciences advances come from the individual who re-creates traditional themes in new ways. Imagination plays a central role, as children explore how the natural world works, visualize other cultures and ancient civilizations, and search for creative solutions to real-life problems. At St. Paul’s, we nurture the improvisational spirit of our students as well as and in ourselves as educators.

We welcome community: The quality of anyone’s life is largely determined by the quality of his or her relationships.    To build the kind of community of care and trust we want for our students, we must also build this among ourselves. Parental involvement is integral to the success of the school and to each child’s learning and is encouraged through parent education, volunteering opportunities and community events. The school enjoys a supportive and loving connection with the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and with supporters in the wider community who have contributed to the school’s growth and achievements.
