LOCAL INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DETERMINED TO EXPAND ACCESS AND CUT COSTS TO FAMILIES

Alamo Heights, TX – February 7, 2018 – St. Luke’s Episcopal School (SLES) has launched a Variable Tuition Program aimed at making the school more affordable for local families for the 2018-19 school year.  The PK3-8th grade independent school, located in Alamo Heights, is the first school in Bexar County to adopt this new approach. Independent schools in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, Colorado, and California are utilizing similar methods to support a more diverse student body. Across the country, many parents are interested in the unique mission and programs offered only in independent schools. However, the tuition sticker shock frequently deters families from pursuing these schools for their children.

Acknowledging the financial barrier, St. Luke’s Episcopal School tuition rates are set within a range. When a family applies for variable tuition, the school determines the tuition rate that honors each family’s unique financial position. Variable tuition awards a range from 40-80% of the fixed cost of a SLES education.  No family at SLES pays more than 80% of the full cost of education. SLES’ variable tuition plan will take effect in the fall of 2018. Interested families are encouraged to apply now in order to qualify for variable tuition.

St. Luke’s school leaders are dedicated to ensuring that highly qualified students from across San Antonio can experience a life-changing education at SLES. “We are proud of our 70-year history of educational excellence,” says Head of School Tom McLaughlin. “By expanding access to our top-tiered school, we will further our mission of forming confident and faithful scholars, citizens and leaders throughout the greater San Antonio region.”
